Let it go

Today, I’m finally letting go of some things I’ve been holding on to for too long.

Let me explain. No, there is too much. Let me sum up.

I wrote over a hundred stories, most of them tiny, and put them up on my website years ago. Then one day I thought, why am I not trying to sell these stories to magazines? They’re decent enough. So, I pulled them all down.

But as far as most magazines were concerned, the stories were already published, so I couldn’t sell them. Maybe to some places, maybe as reprints. (I may still do that.) I could also compile them into a e-book and self-publish them. (I may still do that.)

But in the meantime, they’re lying around collecting virtual dust. I’m a story hoarder. I keep meaning to find places for them, but I don’t. They’re clutter. The attention they steal from me is attention I could be paying to newer, better stories that I have yet to write.

So, today they went back up. A few mouse clicks and bam. Clean house. Feels good.

Pretend I’m standing on a mountain belting out an Oscar-winning song. Except I’m wearing a jacket because I can’t stand the cold. Time to go make a snowman and a crazy ice castle.

here I stand and here I’ll stay, let the storm rage on…the cold never bothered me anyway…
